This book should have a warning that it is full of sex with a dark edginess to it. Ashton gets his way no matter how he has to manipulate Sadie. He is a dom and she is a sub. And Sadie wouldn't know a back bone of it was diagrammed for her. Her father and Jake are so prominent through most of the story but are then suddenly dropped, never to be heard from again. The bit with Corinne was so flimsy it was laughable. The story didn't flow well. There was no romance, just raunchy sex.The first book finishes halfway through. Then there is a second, extra/free book. How nice of the author. Even though I struggled with the first one, I was willing to give the second one a try. I mean, the author was kind enough to give it to me for free. Right?! But wait, the second one is a cliffy and to get a possible resolution...you guessed it....shell out more money! Doesn't sound like such a great idea now, does it?! I guess I should be grateful that there is a warning at the start of the second one that it is a cliffy. I wasn’t sadly.We gots us some drama llama(s) in this here book folks, it was a little too much.It wasn’t the Main characters as much, one character just got on my nerves... let me just say boy it sure felt like Corinne was taking over as lead female.Ashtons common sense should’ve kicked in where Corinne was concerned, it was obvious what was going on, I was stunned none of the other characters pick up nor really question what was clearly put/thrown down.Sadie seemed to be timid? naive? I honestly don’t know. Definitely not strong like I was lead to believe, and sometimes I was left confused by actions, also I couldn’t connect with her (I Just Couldn’t GET Her..)Sadie and Ashton fit ok, but I felt like they didn’t get ‘actual’ relationship coverage in the end to make the reader feel like they were meant to be, despite together a lot in the book it felt like it was going nowhere.Just a stamped HEA.I found the smexiness: ehhh.... reason being it felt like copy paste (not that the author did! I’m not saying that!) it just felt like smexy scenes were written out and then were pasted in parts of the book. I’ve read softcore/hardcore bdsm, and Ashton seemed to be a wannabe alpha dom: gagging, hair pulling, spanking, ‘soft’ public scenes, tying or holding arms behind back.Sounds Hot Right? It was more ‘I own handcuffs so that makes me an bdsm expert’ type of feel, Just seemed to be awkward or tamed fillers.Despite my ‘rant’ it was an ok read, it’s just I’ve read several books from this author, and this story wasn’t what I was expecting it to be, it should’ve been better.
